Today I got into uni to discover that it was the last week and that I have a portfolio of art work that needs to be handed in on Friday of which I haven’t really started to do. Looks like I have a busy week ahead of me. eep

For those of you that think that they are the exact same you are in for a shock. A Mb (with a lowercase ‘B’) is short hand for MegaBit. A MB (with an uppercase ‘B’) is short hand for MegaByte. 1 Byte is the same as 8 bits meaning that 1MB is 8Mb, you will note that whenever you are looking at ISPs they will always have their connection speed in Mbs to make it look like it is faster than it really is. If you have an internet connection that is 8Mb/s that is equivalent to say 1MB/s, your internet connection isn’t as fast as you thought is it?

You might want to remember this next time your are making your layout which is crammed full of images as filesizes on a computer are shown in byte formatting.

As you can see in the previous couple of posts I have been having problems with my phoneline, they have finally found the problem. At the top of the telephone pole at the back there is a little box that is ment to be water proof, water has maged to get into it and has rusted the wired. It makes you wonder what their systems they use to check the phonelines are for, it really fucked that up. Anyway until they replace the box they have sorted a temporary thing to make the wires to connect. At least I can play games over the web without getting disconnected every 10 seconds.

My estimation has dropped back down again, infact it is lower. They fixed one problem and now it is worce, if that is posible. The internet is now jumping on and off which is somehow more annoying than before at least it was off or long periods and then back on. Now every time it disconnects I get AIM telling me that it has lost connection and GAIM windows poping up telling me that it is trying to logon again. By that time I already know it has lost connection because I can’t get any more pages to download.
