Cooler Computer
Tuesday, May 2nd, 2006I have been playing around with my computer a lot over the last few days, trying to make it to boot up faster for a start. I have been uninstalling programs, altering system configuration, stopping services that I hardly every used. I did know that doing this would reduces the load on my computer and subsequently meant that that CPU would be cooler but I was surprised at how much cooler.
Yesterday I have about 60 background process running in the background on my PC, most of which start when Windows has finished loading. I have turned off most of the applications that I do not use that often and there are now 46 background processes running. The CPU temperature during idle has dropped from 53 degrees centigrade to 48 degrees centigrade that is a drop of 5 degrees. The system temperature has also dropped by 2 degrees (from 31 to 29), it really goes to shows how much different a few background processes can make.
