Eight click to Play

Monday, September 4th, 2006

I enjoy playing Final Fantasy XI as you may have noticed in my previous blog posts that I have become quite addicted to it. However, I do wonder why I have to click my mouse, or press enter, eight times before I can start playing. Granted one of the clicks is to open the Start Menu and the other to start the PlayOnline viewer but that still makes six. If I start another game like, for example, Unreal Tournament 2004 five clicks, two to start as before, and I am playing Instagib CTF online I also feel like have not waist any time getting there. I can think of two clicks I can remove strait away, one being the second "Play" button in the PlayOnline View going into Final Fantasy XI and the second being the "Accept" for do you agree to follow the "Rules & Policies" and "Rules of Conduct" which I have agreed to before, last time I logged in and my option has not changed since then.

Today in Vana’diel

Wednesday, August 30th, 2006

I have been playing Final Fantasy XI pritty much every waking hour of the last two weeks, I know, sad isn’t it? I have now got a linkshell (Thank-you for the Pearl Elffeena). I have also been training my character very hard and she is now WHM35/BLM20. I am currently trying to get a Teleport-Dem Scroll by doing the Altana’s Sorrow quest but to be able to do it I need level 5 fame and I currently only have level 3. Over the last two days at least I have been running around Bastok and the surrounding areas doing various quests to help improve my fame rating.

On a better now the insurance company has greed to replace my computers motherboard which will cost about £80. A man has been around to collect the the main television, PlayStation 2, and some other things that were damaged and we should be hearing from him soon as to weather they can be fixed or not. Hopefully it wont be and will have to be replaced because if we got a simaler level of television to the old one we would have a very nice HD Ready TV.

Final Fantasy XI and Lightning

Monday, August 21st, 2006

I bought Final Fantasy XI about a year ago from Virgin Megastores, it was sitting in a discount bin and I thought "Why not?" I played it for about two weeks and stopped, for at least ten months.

A few days ago I found out that Woody had bought it and I thought, "Why don’t I get my copy out and get back on my account?". It installed perfectly well, not a problem at all, my account had been suspended but I quickly re-activated it and my character was in perfect health (minus my Linkshell which seems to have closed, so if you are part of an Linkshell on the Ifrit server my name is Andromida). After maybe two hours of playing, disaster, a thunderstorm had passed over my house and a lightning bolt knocked out a lot of the electrical equipment in the house.

The main television, two video recorders, a DVD recorder, cable television box and modem, network router, three network cards, the motherboard of my computer and my PlayStation 2 have been damaged. The cable television box and modem were fixed last Saturday and we bought a new network router, someone is meant to be coming to see if the television can be repaired "soon".

I have got my computer working, although it does sometimes go a little nuts (I hope that will go away when I replace the motherboard). In the time my computer has been behaving I have been playing Final Fantasy XI, my character is Andromida, on the Ifrit server, and is a 25WHM/20RDM and I am looking for someone to help me on the Emissary Mission for Bostok.

RazModz

Sunday, August 6th, 2006

After just short of 2 years I have started working on RazModz. I originally created it to show of modifications that I had created for Aardvark Topsites PHP (version 4.2) and my last modification was published on the 22/8/2004. Hopefully I will be creating new modifications for Aardvark Topsites PHP 5.1.2 as well as future versions as well.

I am so useless

Sunday, July 30th, 2006

Over the last few days I have been thinking about myself a bit. Not much but enough to make me relise how useless my life is at the moment. I am not in university at the moment because of holidays, and like most holidays and weekends and any other day I am not in university or lessons do not start till the afternoon my sleeping pattens go out the window. For the last few months I have slept in past noon the only exception was the last week of my holiday in France at LePas Opton where I was normally up by around 10 o’clock.

When I actually do get up all I do is set around my house, usually not far from my computer or television (considering they are right next to eachother it would be hard not to). Although I am skilled on a computer the last think that actually involved using my brain was probably when I build my computer which was about two months ago now. I have upgraided the memory from a gigabyte to two and installed Microsoft Windows Vista Beta 2.

I think I need to get back into University and do some work, I know I am more than capable of doing anything that is asked of me and then some. It would also give me a reason to get a sleeping patter, I have not had one since I was in highschool which was over three years ago now. It would probably be a bad idea if I was self employed, I would never get the work done.

Firefox Virus

Saturday, July 29th, 2006

A few anti-virus firms are reporting that there is a virus spreding using the extentions feature of Firefox. The trojan has been named FormSpy and Sophos has been dubbed Troj/FireSpy-A. It captures information from the browser (like passwords and bank details) and send them to a remote computer. The trojan also comes with a file that Windows can execute that also records ICQ, POP3, IMAP and FTP passwords. The trojen pretends to be the legitimate Numberlinks extention.

You should remember this virus will only get onto your computer if you let it, it does not exploit a weekness in Firefox.

I got a Need for Speed!

Tuesday, July 25th, 2006

Over the last few days I have been playing Need For Speed: Underground 2, I have only completed it once before and that was last year so I hardly remember only just remember it but it is suprising how quickly I got used to the controls again. For the first few hours I kept pressing the handbrake button insted of the NOS buttion and visa-versa because I have been so used to the Gran Turismo 4 controls.

While I was in town today I also bought a game called Juiced which is on the same sort of them, street racing. As you may have noticed I like almost anything to do with cars. :)

It is now legal to copy Music Disks to a Computer

Monday, June 12th, 2006

If you have read a previous article about the British Phonographic Industry they were planning to make it legal to rip music CD to a computer for use on a MP3 Player as long as the files are not distrobuted to other users. People will now only be brought up on charges if they share the songs.

What to do with the spare?

Wednesday, June 7th, 2006

After upgrading my old PC and fixing my Mum’s with the some of the redundant parts I now have everything I need to make another (all I really need is a CD/DVD reader but it is not essential). The only problem with the machine is that the on-board graphics card does not work correctly but that is not really a problem. The processor is only a AMD Athlon 1.3Ghz but it is enough to install Fedora Core (a distribution of Linux) and use it as a test server for some of my sites and a general file server. It may even become the router for my home network depending if I can get hold of enough NICs. I will keep you updated!
